Meeting

This meeting, held at RFH's Hide-a-way just north of Phoenix, was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Tom Hudson.

Tom gave a report on what we will be doing with the Bass Pro fish tank money.  He reported that we will be using one of the gift cards for each of the "lure draws" at the tournaments.  Then the money raised at these draws will be used to fund the awards banquet next year.

We also are thinking of holding our awards banquet next year in February instead of January.  This would give the promotions committee time to approach our sponsors for donations.

Tom also reported on a new program that we will be trying this year. This program is set up to keep the maximum number of our members assisting the junior club members.

A maximum of $500.00 has been set aside for the members who assist the junior club this summer.  Boaters and non-boaters that donate there time and boats will be paid gas money to drive to the junior event.  A formula will be set up that takes in the cost of gas and the mileage too and from the junior launch site., This will be paid twice during the year. Once around the end of July and then around the middle of November.  No one will make any money, and our club members will still be donating their time, but at least the sting of the high cost of gas will be tempered.

The club has been asked to assist the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation who is sponsoring the Oneida Lake Basseye Challenge. This event is being held June 25th of this year.  We will be available to weigh-in the fish for this event.

Committee Reports:

Treasurer, Jack Loughrey, gave his report which is listed on the "members only" page.  Basically, the club is in good financial shape.

Promotions, Dick Hyde reported that our sponsors are coming through again this year, but the committee is having some trouble with new sponsors.  The economy has many suppliers pulling back on sponsorship. But on a good note, Mustad has come though again this year and the committee had over 100 packs of hooks to hand out.  Every member in attendance received 4 packs of Mustad hooks (worth between $15 and $20) to use this year.  Thanks Mustad.

Federation.  Bill Kays reported on the recent federation meeting held at Bass Pro.  Bill asked for input from the members on what we would like to do to improve fishing access etc. here in CNY.

Juniors.  Vern Robinson reported that the junior club needs boats on May 27th, June 3rd, and June 10th, all Tuesday nights from 6p.m. to 9 p.m., and asked for the senior club boaters to set aside these dates to take the juniors fishing.  These three dates are to qualify the juniors for their CTC event.  Also the juniors will be holding "pond" tournaments later in the year and the non-boaters can help out by showing up and helping the juniors around the pond.

Dick Hyde then gave a very informative seminar on swim baits.  Dick showed us many of the baits on the market today and also showed us how to hook them up and also how to use them.  There were many questions, and everyone got to see the baits up close and personal as Dick passed them around.

It was decided that because all club business has been taken care of, there is no need for a April meeting.  See everyone at the pike tournament, the first Saturday in May.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
