March 25th 2006 Meeting The meeting was held at the Pizza Hut in Fulton, NY. The meeting was called to order by President Tom Hudson at 6:00 p.m. Secretary, Connell Raate reported that when amending the by-laws from the February meeting, he ran across a problem with the classic tournament fees and payouts. There was a lingering problem with the big bass payout for day one which the tournament committee had corrected last year, but was never corrected in the by-laws. Also by adding a additional $10.00 for the non-boaters, would that go to $20.00 for a two day tournament? After much discussion, it was decided that entry fee for the two day event would be upped to $40.00 per person, and the "gas fee" for the non-boaters would be only $10.00 for the two day event. The payout for the big bass for the two day event would be upped to $10.00 per person, for the big bass each day. ($5.00 each day) $1.00 would be paid into escrow from each contestant for "Anger of the year" and "Big bass of the year". ( Total of $2.00) This would leave a balance of $28.00 for prize money. Although during the regular season we pay 5 places, the classic payout would stay at the first 4 places only, and those payouts would be 50%, 25%, 15%, 10%. This gives our club one big money payout each year. With a full compliment of 30 anglers, big bass each day would pay $150.00, and winning the two day event would pay $420.00. Even 4th place would pay $84.00. The by-laws have been change to reflect this tournament rule change, and can be downloaded and printed by going to by-law link on this web page. President, Tom Hudson, when led a discussion on the winning techniques that were used by the anglers who won or placed in each of last years events. From Tom's own data, he had the weather conditions, (water temp., wind speed, wind direction and cloud cover), and from the clubs tournament standings, he had the placements and fish caught. It was very interesting and informative, as each angler was called upon to tell his lure, technique, location, etc. that lead to his catch on each and every body of water. Questions from the floor were direct, and the angler was open and precise with his answers. It was a very informative part of the meeting, and if you missed it, you missed a great meeting. I believe that everyone left there with much greater knowledge and looking forward to doing it again next year. Good work Tom. Ryan Smith reported that he has secured a cabin at Ogdensburg for the NYS Bass Federation 6 man team event. Our 6 man team will stay there along with Tom Hudson and Connell Raate. Tom and Connell will act as alternates, and are thinking of volunteering for the weigh-in. Chris French announced that he will become a boater this year. This puts our membership as of now at 12 boaters and 7 non-boaters. This coming weekend we have the Bass Pro show where we will be raffling off the tackle box. Last year we had 3 inquires from non-boaters to join the club at this event, and we could not take them because of a boat shortage. If any of our members have a friend that is interested in joining, contact Tom Hudson at 626-2212 and sign them up this week. Connell Raate reported that we have enough members to man the booth on Sunday, but could use one more person for both Friday and Saturday. Hours for all three days are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bass Pro provides lunch for us. If you can help out, even for a few hours, contact Connell at 652-6996. No date for the April meeting was set. Tom will e-mail all of us when he gets his ducks in line. |
