2008 Club Team Championship

on

Chautauqua Lake

August 23rd - 24th

The 6 man team including alternates

Every year, the NYS B.A.S.S. Federation holds a "Club Team Championship" (CTC) and this is third year that we have competed.

The House

Some necessities.

This year we rented a house on the lake. It came complete with all the necessities needed for the teams stay over 5 days.

The kitchen.

During practice days, (Thursday and Friday before the tournament) everyone was catching lots of big fish.  There was one bass caught over 5 pounds and a few 4+ pounders.

Discussing what's next

Tom Hudson "working hard"

Dave Donhauser was "having a ball".  He says all the guys are a lot of fun and the fishing is great also.  Dave did not get to fish with another team.  This is the first time that all teams have a full roster, so Tom and Dave will be helping out the Federation by working the ramp and weigh in both Saturday and Sunday.  (Alternates can not be on the tournament waters during the tournament)

Ryan Smith and "friend"

At 3:00 a.m.  Saturday morning, a bat woke everyone up in the house.  Jack Loughery was running around chasing the bat with a broom and Ryan Smith was hiding under his sleeping bag.   LOL  This had to be a sight.  After that everyone was awake so they stayed up and got ready to go fishing.

Just another day in paradise.

Around 8:00 a.m. Saturday.  Tom got a phone call from Jeff Edgerton (the tournament director) that Chris Cartwright was having boat trouble.  Tom was getting ready to take off and launch his boat to retrieve Chris when Jeff call again and said that Chris was close to the house and it was OK for Chris to come to shore and have Tom look for the trouble.

Working on Chris Cartwright's boat.

Chris showed up and he had one of his live wells not working.   Because it would take Tom at least one hour to trace out the problem, Tom sent Chris off with a bucket.   Chris will be bailing water into one of his live wells all day today.  By the way.  Chris was doing well.   The first five casts this morning he had five fish. That evening Tom and the team worked on Chris's boat and got the live well working again.

Dick Hyde "setting up" Chris's Lowrance.

As of Saturday, our team in in about the top 1/3.  Everyone caught fish, although the weights were down from practice.  The boat traffic on the lake is horrendous.  Jet ski's, Stabbing wagons, go fast boats, and just about anything that floats is out there on the weekend.

Everyone is Busy ????????

Sunday, final day of the tournament.

5th Place   Congratulations to our team.

Yes they did it.  Now to some people, 5th may not seem like a victory, but this is only our 3rd year in the Federation and competing in the CTC.  The first two years we finished in 12th or 13th place.

Here is the standings at the end of the tournament

Crown City

Rochester

Southern Tier

Capital District

Good Ole Boys

Millennium

Our team caught a total of 107.03   pounds for the tournament.

Hopefully we can do at least a good next year and maybe improve on our standings.
